Medical Disclaimer
Last updated: June 21, 2026
CarbMeNot is a food, carb, and macro tracking application and website operated by Skyble Lab Inc ("Skyble Lab", "we", "us", or "our"). The information we provide — including net-carb counts, calorie and macro estimates, recipes, meal plans, articles, calculators, and AI-generated results — is offered for general informational and educational purposes only. Please read this disclaimer carefully before relying on anything you find in the app or on carbmenot.com (together, the "Services").
Not medical advice
CarbMeNot is not a medical device, and nothing in the Services is intended to be, or should be taken as, medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The Services do not replace the personalized advice of a physician, registered dietitian, or other qualified healthcare provider who knows your individual history. Even where our content is reviewed by knowledgeable contributors, it remains general in nature and cannot account for your specific circumstances.
Always seek the advice of your physician or another qualified health professional with any questions you may have about a medical condition, your diet, weight loss, or a nutrition or exercise program — and before starting, stopping, or changing any diet (including keto or low-carb), medication, or treatment. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read or calculated in the Services.
No doctor–patient relationship
Using the Services, contacting us, or reading our content does not create a doctor–patient, dietitian–client, or any other professional-care relationship between you and CarbMeNot, Skyble Lab, or any of our contributors.
Talk to a professional first — especially if this applies to you
Carbohydrate restriction, fasting, and calorie tracking affect people differently and can carry real medical risk for some. Consult a qualified healthcare provider before using the Services or making dietary changes if you:
- have diabetes or take insulin or other glucose-lowering medication (a low-carb diet can require medication adjustment to avoid dangerously low blood sugar);
- take GLP-1 receptor agonists (such as semaglutide or tirzepatide) or any other prescription medication affected by food intake;
- have kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, a history of pancreatitis, gout, or any chronic metabolic condition;
- are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding;
- are under 18 or over 65;
- have a history of disordered eating; or
- have any other medical condition or take any medication that could be affected by changes in diet.
Net carbs, keto, and individual variation
"Net carbs" (total carbohydrate minus fiber and, where applicable, sugar alcohols) is a popular concept, not a universally standardized or regulated medical measurement. The way your body responds to carbohydrates, fiber, and sugar alcohols is individual. Targets, ratios, and "keto-friendly" labels in the Services are general guidelines, not prescriptions for you.
Accuracy and limitations of our information
The Services use artificial intelligence, third-party food databases (such as USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts), and the information you enter to estimate foods and nutrition values. These values are estimates only and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. AI photo recognition can misidentify foods, ingredients, and portion sizes; databases contain errors; and manufacturers change their products. Even a well-built tracking app has a measurable margin of error and cannot substitute for clinical or laboratory measurement where medical precision is required. You are responsible for verifying any information before relying on it, particularly for a health-related decision.
Disordered eating
For some people — particularly anyone in recovery from, or at risk of, an eating disorder — tracking food, carbs, or calories can be harmful. If counting feels compulsive or distressing, please stop and speak with a licensed clinician.
In the United States you can contact the National Alliance for Eating Disorders helpline at 1-866-662-1235, or the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) for resources. Outside the U.S., please reach out to a local eating-disorder support service.
In a crisis
If you or someone else may be in danger, this app is not the right tool. In the United States, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or call 911 for any medical emergency. Outside the U.S., contact your local emergency number or crisis service. Do not rely on the Services in an emergency.
External links and third-party content
The Services may link to third-party websites, products, or resources. We provide these for convenience only and do not control, endorse, or take responsibility for their content, accuracy, or any advice they contain. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
Assumption of risk
Your use of the Services, and any decisions you make based on them, are entirely at your own discretion and risk. By using the Services you acknowledge and accept this.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Skyble Lab, its contributors, and its officers, employees, and agents disclaim all liability for any loss, injury, or adverse outcome — including any health outcome — arising from your reliance on, or use of (or inability to use), the Services. This disclaimer is in addition to, and does not limit, the terms in our Terms of Service.
Changes to this disclaimer
We may update this Medical Disclaimer from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the revised disclaimer.
